Yelena Wainman is an Associate at Catenion and lives in Berlin.
Yelena joined Catenion after leading the early stage preclinical startup CytoSwitch at the LMU Munich, developing novel photo-activatable chemotherapeutics for oncology. Prior to this, she did her post-doc at MGH/Harvard Medical School in the field of chemical biology and epigenetics. She speaks 5 languages and has lived in 6 countries.
In her spare time, Yelena is a keen pianist, organizing yearly charity concerts and also enjoys traveling and doing capoeira.
Yelena completed her PhD in Medicinal Chemistry and Cancer Imaging at the University of Cambridge where she developed novel contrast agents for the detection of glycosylation in cancer. She obtained her Master’s and Bachelor degree in Natural Sciences at the University College London during which she spent her Bachelor year at the Ecole Normale Superieure in Lyon.
